Thrasher Partners is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Accountant to oversee payroll operations for three companies that make up our West Region. This position reports directly to the Regional Controller (for the West Region) and plays an integral role in the accounting team.
The Payroll Accountant ensures that employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with all applicable payroll tax laws and company policies. This role partners closely with Human Resources, Accounting, and operational teams to uphold strong internal controls, reporting accuracy, and continuous process improvement.

As Payroll Accountant, you will:
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule for multiple companies.
- Prepare and calculate sales commissions, production incentives, and other bonus programs to support payroll processing.
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries and maintain thorough supporting documentation.
- Reconcile payroll tax liabilities and benefit-related accounts.
- Support preparation, reconciliation, and filing of W-2s and other payroll tax reporting requirements.
- Assist with payroll process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Provide support for other month-end accounting close procedures as needed.
Education, Experience and Additional Skills:
- 3+ years of payroll processing and payroll accounting experience (multi-company experience preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, wage laws, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing commission- or incentive-based compensation structures.
- Proficiency in payroll systems such as Rippling and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
